Research interests

My current research interests relate to the holographic principle that conjectures that quantum gravity theories can admit a dual description in terms of ordinary quantum field theories. Concrete realizations of this principle deal with standard relativistic gravity in anti-de Sitter space-times and their relativistic conformal field theory duals. My research is motivated by finding out whether holography is valid beyond these currently known examples. In particular, it revolves around the question: "How general is the validity of the holographic principle?".

Guided by this question, I am interested in studying gravity theories that lie outside the conventional framework of general relativity, as well as their holographic duals. I am especially focused on non-Lorentzian gravity and supergravity theories, such as those that arise in the non- and ultra-relativistic limits of general relativity. I take an interest in their application to extensions of holography to non-relativistic field theories or flat space-times or as decoupling limits of string and M-theory. Another line of my work aims to explore holography in the presence of higher-derivative corrections to gravity. For this reason, I am involved in finding and studying new three-dimensional higher-derivative theories of massive gravity and supergravity and the structure of their two-dimensional conformal field theory duals.
