- We shall discuss the problem of calculating the measure of a chaotic component in a Hamiltonian dynamical system and will consider the problem of approach to ergodicity, also by discretizing the Poincare surface of section into a number of sufficiently small cells, and will follow the dynamics on the discretized phase space, also by means of numerical investigations. The so-called random model for ergodic systems will be discussed, which rests upon the assumption of absence of correlations, and will be shown to be extremely successful in ergodic systems. In mixed type systems we introduce the generalized Poisson model with varying and distributed a priori Poissonian probabilities.
