Sažetak:
 A theory in which spacetime is considered as a 4-dimensional membrane V_4 embedded in a higher dimensional space V_N will be presented. The dynamics is given by the minimal surface action in a curved embedding space which is taken to be conformally flat. In the quantization of the model I start from a generalized Howe-Tucker membrane's action which depends on the embedding variables and the induced metric on V_4. After functionally integrating out the embedding variables one obtains an effective action which contains Einstein's gravity and its higher derivative corrections.
