SPACE-TIME IN STRING THEORY AND RELATED MODELS

Datum: srijeda, 10. sijecnja 2003.
Vrijeme: 11 sati, c.t.
Mjesto: IRB, predavaonica I krila
Sažetak:
As a theory that unifies all fundametal interactions, and also general relativity and quantum mechanics, string theory also gives rise to some fundamentally novel ideas. Among them is the fact that space-time is (in principle) dynamically determined, rather than chosen. In this talk, I will present the development of these ideas, from "ordinary" compactification (a la Kaluza-Klein) to the recent noncompact cosmological models which include the so-called "Brane World" cosmologies.
